Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Lee Taeho will hold the 5^th Republic of Korea-United States Senior Economic Dialogue (SED) with U.S. Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Keith Krach in a virtual format on October 14.

At the upcoming Dialogue, the two sides will discuss economic cooperation between the ROK and the U.S. amid the COVID-19 pandemic; cooperation in line with the New Southern Policy and the Indo-Pacific Strategy; and various global issues, including science and technology, energy, and emerging technologies.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jong Kun will have a meeting with the heads of missions of ASEAN in Seoul (ten ASEAN member states) on October 15.

The meeting, which will be Vice Minister Choi’s first meeting with the heads of missions of ASEAN since his inauguration, is expected to serve as an opportunity to exchange views on the ROK’s New Southern Policy and cooperation between the ROK and ASEAN.
