Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha will attend the Munich Security Conference to be held in Munich, the Federal Republic of Germany, from February 14 to 16.

This year, Minister Kang will attend a main panel session on multilateralism, and explain the Republic of Korea’s foreign policy in line with the international community’s efforts to strengthen multilateralism.

Minister Kang will hold a number of bilateral meetings with ministers and high-level officials from other countries, and exchange views on the progress in the development of bilateral relations and high-level exchanges; ways to step up substantive cooperation in the climate sector, including the second P4G Summit, and other areas; and the situations on the Korean Peninsula and in other major regions, as well as cooperation on the global stage.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Sei-young will meet with the Chairperson and President of the Korea Society on February 12. Vice Minister Cho will extend congratulations on former U.S. Ambassador to the ROK Kathleen Stephens’ inauguration as the new Board Chair, and ask for the Korea Society’s active role with regard to ways to advance the ROK-U.S. alliance and make progress toward the denuclearization of and establishment of permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.
