Press Briefing

Spokesperson and Deputy Minister for Public Relations Kim In-chul

December 3, 2019  14:30  KST

Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha will deliver a keynote speech at the 2019 Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) Conference on Global Affairs set to take place at the Korea National Diplomatic Academy on December 4.

At the upcoming conference, under the theme “Northeast Asian Order in Transition: Exploring a New Peace Architecture,” Minister Kang will introduce the position and role of the Republic of Korea (ROK) in the frame of competition and cooperation between the United States and the People’ Republic of China, as well as core values upheld by the ROK’s diplomacy such as peace, co-prosperity and people.

Vice Minister Lee Tae-ho will deliver opening and congratulatory remarks respectively at the 5th Busan Global Partnership Forum, hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on December 4, and the 2nd Seoul Dialogue on Africa, co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korea-Africa Foundation on December 5.

The Busan Global Partnership Forum is expected to serve as an opportunity to promote interest and will of development cooperation stakeholders around the globe in implementing the agenda of “development effectiveness” initiated at the High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness held in Busan in 2011.

The Seoul Dialogue on Africa is expected to serve as an opportunity to comprehensively review major political and economic issues in Africa this year, and discuss ways to make progress toward cooperation between the ROK and African countries.
