Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

On November 11, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha, together with President Park Kyung-seo of the Korean Red Cross, will sign a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korean Red Cross for cooperation in nurturing future generations in the areas of culture and arts in developing countries and enhancing public awareness.

Under the MOU, the two organizations are expected to lay an institutional foundation for stronger cooperation, and contribute to reinforcing public and cultural diplomacy toward developing countries under a new model for public-private cooperation reflecting the cultural capacity of the Republic of Korea (ROK).

Vice Minister Lee Tae-ho will attend the 9th Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) to take place in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, on November 9.

Issues such as deepening cooperation of the FEALAC of which this year marks the 20^th anniversary of the establishment and its ways forward will be discussed at the upcoming meeting.

On the occasion of the meeting, Vice Minister Lee will have bilateral meetings with Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas of the Dominican Republic and Deputy Foreign Minister Francisco Echeverri of the Republic of Colombia.

After attending the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Vice Minister Lee will visit the Republic of Costa Rica on November 11, and have consultations on current issues and ways for mutual cooperation between the ROK and the Republic of Costa Rica.
