Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

 

Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha will attend the 12th Republic of Korea (ROK)-Central Asia Cooperation Forum which will take place in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan, on October 16.

 

At the Forum held at the minister level, participants will discuss ways for cooperation in the area of standardization, water resources, green energy and information technology (IT).

 

During her visit to Kazakhstan, Minister Kang will pay a courtesy call on President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and discuss current issues on bilateral relations between the ROK and Kazakhstan.

 

In addition, Minister Kang will hold respective bilateral meetings with foreign ministers of the participating countries; review the progress in the implementation of the follow-up measures to the ROK President and Prime Minister’s visits to Central Asian countries; and have consultations on ways to advance relations between the ROK and Central Asian countries.

 

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Lee Tae-ho will visit the Russian Federation and hold consultation with Special Representative for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Yefimovich Shvydkoy.

 

At the upcoming consultation, the two sides will review progress in preparations for projects that celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the ROK and Russia, and exchange views on cooperation for thoroughly implementing the commemorative projects in areas such as political affairs, economy and culture.
