Press Briefing

Spokesperson and Deputy Minister for Public Relations Kim In-chul

September 10, 2019  14:30  KST

Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

On Monday, September 16, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Kang Kyung-wha will hold a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov.

In the meeting, the two Ministers will monitor the progress in the implementation of the follow-up measures to President Moon Jae-in’s state visit to Kazakhstan in April 2019, and have discussions on various issues such as ways to advance cooperation in a future-oriented manner between the two countries and to enhance friendly cooperation between nationals of the two countries.

With this year marking the 10th anniversary of the establishment of strategic partnership between the ROK and Kazakhstan, the bilateral strategic partnership is expected to become stronger on the occasion of the visit to the ROK by Foreign Minister Atamkulov of Kazakhstan, the ROK’s key cooperative partner in Central Asia.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Lee Tae-ho will meet with senior officials of the Japan-Korea Cultural Foundation on Tuesday, September 17.

The Japan-Korea Cultural Foundation was established in 1983 under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan with the aim to promote bilateral people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries. The Foundation’s senior officials have visited the ROK on an annual basis since 1999 in order to give awards to the ROK individuals or organizations that contributed to promoting bilateral friendship.
