Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha will host the “16th Iftar dinner” on May 9.

Minister Kang has invited about 170 people from home and abroad, including the diplomatic corps from the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The dinner is expected to serve as an opportunity to further strengthen mutual understanding and bonds between the Republic of Korea and Islamic countries, and to advance their friendly and cooperative relations.

Especially, the upcoming dinner, to which an official from the Apostolic Nunciature (the Holy See Embassy) in the Republic of Korea has been invited for the first time since the event started in 2004, is expected to become an opportunity to think about the meaning of unity and engagement between religions.
