Launching Ceremony and Inaugural Plenary Meeting of Committee for Future-Oriented Development of Korea-China Relations to be Held

1. The launching ceremony and the inaugural plenary meeting of the Committee for Future-Oriented Development of Korea-China Relations will be held in a virtual format in the presence of Committee members from both sides and its secretariat staff on the morning of August 24, the 29th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and China.

 

2. Korea and China have been actively communicating and making every effort to prepare for the launch of the Committee since the Foreign Ministers of the two countries agreed in principle to launch the Committee in the Korea-China Foreign Ministers’ meeting on November 26, 2020.

 

3. At the ceremony, Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-yong and State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi will deliver messages congratulating the launch of the Committee, and the Chairpersons of both sides will give keynote speeches.

 

4. At the inaugural plenary meeting, which will be held in conjunction with the launching ceremony, the Korean and Chinese members of the Subcommittees on Future Planning, on Politics and Diplomacy, on Economy and Commerce, and on Society and Culture are expected to exchange opinions on how to operate the Committee for one year from this August.
