1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-yong spoke over the phone with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif on February 24, and had a broad exchange of views on ways to advance and expand bilateral relations.

2. Foreign Minister Chung called for an early release of the Korean-flagged vessel Hankuk Chemi and its captain. In response to Foreign Minister Zarif’s request for an early resolution of the issue of Iranian funds frozen in Korea, Foreign Minister Chung explained that the Korean government is making its best efforts with sincerity.

o In addition, Foreign Minister Chung expressed the Korean government’s support for efforts for dialogue among countries concerned to restore the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
