Outcome of Telephone Conversation between Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs and Director-General for Political Affairs and Security of Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France on Jan. 28

1. Amb. Noh Kyu-duk, Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had a telephone conversation with Mr. Philippe Errera, Director-General for Political Affairs and Security of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, on the afternoon of January 28.

 

2. The two sides shared their assessments of the recent developments on the Korean Peninsula, and exchanged views on ways to work together to make progress in achieving complete denuclearization and establishing permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula, while managing the current situation in a stable manner.

 

o Special Representative Noh expressed appreciation to France, a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a major country in the EU, for continuing to support the Korean government’s efforts towards progress in the Korean Peninsula peace process, as Korea’s key ally. Director-General for Political Affairs and Security Errera said that France will continue to work together on Korean Peninsula issues.

 

3. In addition, the two sides agreed to continue consultations in various ways, including holding the next high-level consultation on the North Korean nuclear issue in person as the situation permits.
