3rd Seoul Dialogue on Africa to be Held on December 8-9

1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Korea-Africa Foundation, will host “the 3rd Seoul Dialogue on Africa” in a hybrid (online and offline) format from December 8 to 9.

 

° “The Seoul Dialogue on Africa” is an annual international academic conference co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korea-Africa Foundation since 2018. This track-1.5 meeting brings together people from various sectors, including the government, academic circles and private groups, who share prospects on the overall situation in the areas of political and social affairs, economy, and culture of Africa.

 

2. At this year’s Seoul Dialogue themed “Together in Solidarity: Partnership for a New Normal,” participants will discuss the current political situation in Africa, the region’s digital transition and new models of cooperation between Korea and Africa in the COVID-19 era.

 

° At the opening ceremony to be held at 4:00 pm on December 8, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jong Kun will deliver welcoming remarks, followed by a keynote speech by Commissioner for Peace and Security of the African Union Smail Chergui on “the current status and future tasks of the Silencing the Guns by 2020 Initiative.”

 

3. The 3rd Seoul Dialogue on Africa is expected to contribute to facilitating research on Africa in Korea and enhancing the Korea-Africa cooperative relations by raising mutual awareness and engaging in exchanges.
