1. Deputy Minister for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kim Gunn will make an official visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on November 24-27, during which he will hold the 2nd Republic of Korea-Myanmar policy consultation, pay courtesy calls on high-level officials of the Myanmarese government, meet with officials of the Yangon Region Government, and have a meeting with Korean companies in the country.

2. During Deputy Minister Kim’s visit to Myanmar, which will be made on the occasion of the 45^th anniversary of the establishment of the ROK-Myanmar diplomatic relations this year, the two countries are expected to have an in-depth discussion about cooperation on the COVID-19 prevention and control; key projects for substantive cooperation that were discussed at the two bilateral summits in 2019; difficulties faced by Korean companies in Myanmar; and other bilateral issues.

° The visit is also expected to serve as a good opportunity to discuss specific ways to advance the ROK-Myanmar relations in line with “the New Southern Policy Plus” announced by the ROK government during the ASEAN-ROK Summit held on November 12.
