1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha had a virtual meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark Jeppe Kofod at 16:00-16:30, October 20, at the latter’s request, and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, including advancing the relations between the Republic of Korea and the Kingdom of Denmark, the 2nd Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit, and the selection of the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

2. The two Ministers noted with appreciation that mutual understanding and friendship between people of the two countries have enhanced since the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the ROK-Denmark diplomatic relations in 2019, and agreed to work closely together for the further development of the bilateral relations, as the year 2021 marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of both “the ROK-Denmark strategic partnership” and “the Korean-Danish Green Growth Alliance.”

° The two Ministers also welcomed the agreement over the text of the ROK-Denmark Joint Action Plan for 2020-2024 and agreed to sign the Plan at the earliest opportunity, accelerating substantive cooperation between the two countries across the board, including climate change and green economy.

3. Minister Kang took note that the ROK and Denmark have particularly stepped up cooperation in the area of environment on the basis of their Green Growth Alliance and asked for the Danish government’s attention and support regarding the P4G Summit to take place in the ROK, including through participation by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

° In response, Minister Kofod mentioned that, having been the host of the 1st P4G Summit, Denmark will cooperate actively for the success of the 2nd Summit.

4. Minister Kang asked for Denmark’s support for Minister for Trade Yoo Myung-hee, who had advanced to the final round of the selection process for the next WTO Director-General, and Minister Kofod commended Minister Yoo’s competence.
