Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Hold MIKTA Academic Dialogue

1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold the “MIKTA Academic Dialogue” under the theme “Post COVID-19 Global Orders and MIKTA’s Role as a Middle Power Partnership” through live streaming online from 10:00-15:00, September 18.

 

o With the Republic of Korea assuming chairmanship of MIKTA this year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, by holding the seminar, intends to revitalize academic exchanges among MIKTA members that have been suspended since 2017.

 

2. The upcoming virtual meeting to be held with experts from home and abroad as well as the Korean Association of International Studies (KAIS) will consist of two sessions: one to discuss the importance of MIKTA in post-COVID-19 global orders, and another to explore ways to work together in promoting multilateralism and global health security.

 

o The event will feature opening remarks by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Lee Taeho and welcoming remarks by President of the Korean Association of International Studies (KAIS) Lee Sang-hwan, which will be followed by presentations and discussions with the experts representing five MIKTA countries.

 

3. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects this virtual seminar to facilitate exchanges and cooperation among experts from MIKTA countries and thereby strengthen the foundation for middle-power diplomacy through MIKTA in the post-COVID-19 era.
