Vice Minister Cho Meets with New Chinese Ambassador to ROK Xing Haiming

1. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Sei-young met with new Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Korea Xing Haiming, who presented a copy of credentials on the morning of January 31, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and exchanged views regarding the novel coronavirus outbreak, as well as the ROK-China relations.

 

2. Vice Minister Cho offered condolences to the novel coronavirus victims in China, hoped that the situation will be brought under control swiftly and smoothly, and said that the ROK government will also extend cooperation and assistance China may require. Ambassador Xing explained the measures taken by the Chinese government, including its leadership, in response to the novel coronavirus outbreak, and expressed appreciation for the ROK side’s support.

 

3. Vice Minister Cho expressed gratitude for the Chinese side’s cooperation in bringing home Korean nationals in Wuhan, and asked for continued cooperation in protecting Korean nationals in China. Ambassador Xing said that the Chinese side will continue to closely communicate and cooperate with the ROK side.

 

4. In addition, Vice Minister Cho and Ambassador Xing exchanged views on the current state and future prospects of the ROK-China relations. Vice Minister Cho welcomed Ambassador Xing’s assumption of the post, and voiced hope that during his term of office, the ROK-China relations will advance further. Ambassador Xing extended appreciation for Vice Minister Cho’s hospitality, and said that he will closely work together with the ROK side to advance the ROK-China relations.
