Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Lee Meets with Group of Russian Journalists

1. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of November 7, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Lee Tae-ho met with a group of journalists from the Russian Federation that was on a visit to the Republic of Korea at the invitation of the Korea-Russia Dialogue, a comprehensive private-public consultative mechanism between the two countries.


° The Russian delegation was composed of personnel members, such as editors-in-chief and deputy chief editors, of eight major media outlets of Russia, including Rossiyskaya Gazeta, Komsomolskaya Pravda (Radio), and Public Television of Russia.


2. Ahead of the year 2020, -- the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and “the Year of Mutual Exchanges” between the ROK and Russia -- Vice Minister Lee raised the Russian journalists’ interest in the ROK government’s New Northern Policy and asked Russian media outlets to take keen interest and play an active role to ensure that the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations serves as an opportunity to advance the bilateral relations and promote understanding between people of the two countries.


3. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to support the ROK-Russia journalists exchange projects in a bid to enhance mutual interest and understanding between their media outlets and to help step up exchanges between the two countries.
