At the recent Replenishment Conference, Deputy Minister Kang announced the ROK’s plan to double its contribution to the Global Fund over the next three years in order to help achieve the sustainable development goals of the international community that seeks to eradicate major epidemics, such as AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, by 2030.

The ROK government will contribute 12.5 million USD to the Global Fund in 2017-2019.

3. The Conference brought together delegates of governments of numerous countries, civil societies and private companies, including President of France Emmanuel Macron and advisor to Microsoft Bill Gates, who discussed the international community’s plans for raising finances necessary for the Global Fund projects to be conducted in 2020-2022, and won more than 14 billion USD, the target amount, in pledges.

° The ROK government will continue to contribute to the global efforts to promote health security through the prevention and eradication of infectious diseases.
