1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (ROK), together with the World Food Programme (WFP), held the 5^th Annual Policy Consultation in Seoul on October 7, 2019. Director-General for Development Cooperation Ms. Oh Hyun-joo of the ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Assistant Executive Director Ms. Ute Klamert of the WFP, represented each side as a head of delegation.

2. Director-General Ms. Oh stressed that the ROK and the WFP are actively responding to on-going global humanitarian crises together, and helping vulnerable groups including women, children and refugees to overcome various crises and challenges.

3. Assistant Executive Director Ms. Klamert noted with appreciation that the ROK, one of the WFP’s key donors which has achieved zero-hunger in a short period of time, has remarkably contributed to the WFP’s humanitarian assistance efforts by sharing its development experiences, and hoped that the ROK-WFP cooperation in coping with global humanitarian crises will continue to expand.

4. During the consultation, the two sides had extensive discussions on the overall cooperation between the ROK and WFP including WFP’s innovation efforts; progress in providing rice assistance to developing countries; and WFP’s humanitarian assistance for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
