1. The government of the Republic of Korea extends its deepest condolences over the passing of Yukiya Amano, the 5^th Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

2. During his tenure, Director General Amano expanded the IAEA mandate to “Atoms for Peace and Development,” contributing to the efforts in advancing the life of mankind and achieving sustainable development through nuclear technology. He also made great efforts toward a peaceful resolution of the North Korean nuclear issue. 

3. The spirit and the achievements of Director General Amano, who dedicated himself to the promotion of peaceful uses of nuclear energy and the strengthening of the international non-proliferation regime, will remain deep in the hearts of all people across the world.
