1. On June 28, Ms. Kang Kyung-wha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the ROK, accompanying President Moon Jae-in on his visit to Japan for G20 Summit, had a pull-aside meeting with Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, on the occasion of the dinner held for foreign ministers of G20 member states.

2. During the meeting, the two Ministers exchanged views on the issues on the Korean Peninsula and the overall relations between the Republic of Korea and Japan. Minister Kang once again explained to her counterpart the ROK government’s position on the ruling of the Supreme Court regarding the victims of forced labor during the Japanese occupation of Korea.

3. The two Ministers shared their understanding on the need to continue efforts to manage and advance the ROK-Japan relations by engaging in close communication through various diplomatic channels, including at the ministerial level.
