Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs to Visit U.S. and Hold ROK-U.S. Consultation of Chief Negotiators for North Korean Nuclear Issue

1. Amb. Lee Do-hoon, Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, will visit Washington DC, the United States, from June 18 to 21. During the visit, Amb. Lee will hold a bilateral meeting with Mr. Stephen Biegun, U.S. Special Representative for North Korea and meet with other officials of the U.S. administration.


° During his visit to the Nordic states last week, President Moon Jae-in underscored the need to resume dialogue as soon possible. In this context, the ROK and U.S. chief negotiators for the North Korean nuclear issue plan to discuss ways for the two countries to work together to achieve tangible progress toward complete denuclearization and the establishment of permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula, including an early resumption of dialogue.


2. Amb. Lee will also deliver a keynote remark at an event to be co-hosted by the Atlantic Council and the East Asia Foundation in Washington DC, on June 19.
