1. Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) Lassina Zerbo will visit the Republic of Korea from May 29 to 31, 2019, to attend “the CTBTO-Youth Dialogue” with Korean students.

2. The forthcoming event has been organized to raise Korean youth’s attention to and understanding on international discussions in the field of disarmament and non-proliferation, including the CTBT, on the occasion of the ROK’s chairmanship of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (Chair: the ROK’s Ambassador to the Republic of Austria Shin Dong-ik) in 2019. It is expected to serve as an opportunity for relevant experts from home and abroad and young Koreans to discuss youth’s role in international peace and security.

3. During his visit to the ROK, Executive Secretary of the CTBTO Zerbo will also pay a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs and meet with the Chair of the National Defense Committee of the National Assembly to discuss ways for the ROK and the CTBTO to work together. In addition, he will attend a seminar organized by the Korea Nuclear Policy Society, during which he will exchange with Korean scholars views on the North Korean nuclear issue.
