Deep-Sea Search Vessel (Seabed Constructor) Finds Part of Hull of Stellar Daisy and Retrieves Voyage Data Recorder (VDR)

1. Ocean Infinity’s deep-sea search vessel Seabed Constructor has conducted deep-sea search operations after arriving at the waters where the accident of the Stellar Daisy ship occurred around 11:00, February 14, local time (21:00, February 14, Korea Standard Time). On February 17, Seabed Constructor found Stellar Daisy’s bridge, a part of its hull, through a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), and retrieved its Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) from nearby seabed.

 

2. In addition, the recovered VDR was put into de-ionized water and is being kept safe in Seabed Constructor.

 

3. Ocean Infinity will continue its deep-sea search to find the hull and liferafts, and to check the condition of the hull through underwater photography and carry out 3D mosaic reproduction.

 

4. The government of the Republic of Korea will continue to closely work together with Ocean Infinity until the end of the search operations in order for the firm to successfully conduct its deep-sea search.
