3rd ROK-Russia Consultation on International Cyber/ Information Security Takes Place

1. The 3rd Republic of Korea-Russian Federation Consultation on International Cyber/ Information Security was held in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, on January 31, 2019.

 

- Kim Gunn, Ambassador for International Security Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led the ROK delegation which included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Science and ICT, Ministry of National Defense, Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, Korean National Police Agency, and Korea Internet Security Agency.

 

- Andrey V. Krutskikh, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cooperation on Information Security, Ambassador at Large, led the Russian delegation, which included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Security Council Office, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, and Federal Protection Service.

 

2. At this consultation, the ROK and the Russian Federation exchanged their views on recent international cyber environment, shared their cyber security policy, and discussed cyber norms, confidence building measures and capacity building at international fora, including the United Nations.   

 

3. As cybersecurity has emerged as an important security issue not only for the two countries, but also for the whole international community, both sides shared understanding on the necessity for the international community to reinforce its efforts in dealing with cyber threats.
