1. The working holiday agreement between the Republic of Korea and the Argentine Republic, signed on November 27, 2018, will be brought into force on January 26, 2019.

° The agreement will allow up to an annual 200 Koreans aged 18-30 to stay in Argentina for as long as one year, broadening their horizons through travel, foreign language studies, and cultural and local lifestyle experiences, as well as building work experiences through temporary jobs.

※ The official name of the agreement: Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Government of the Argentine Republic on a Working Holiday Programme

2. The results of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ survey of Korean nationals in August 2018 showed that Argentina was one of the countries respondents wanted a working holiday agreement with. The conclusion of the agreement with Argentina carries significance in that it will offer more opportunities to young Koreans to build presence in Latin America via Argentina.

3. The ROK has so far concluded working holiday agreements with 24 countries, including Argentina. In 2018, some 40,000 young Koreans joined the working holiday program overseas. Going forward, the Foreign Ministry will seek such agreements with countries of ROK nationals’ choice in a bid to offer young Koreans more opportunities to build presence overseas.
