1. The Agreement on Social Security between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Peru will be brought into force on January 1, 2019.

2. The Agreement, when in force, will exempt Korean workers dispatched to Peru from paying pension insurance premiums to their host country for four years (extendable for another one year when agreed), lightening insurance premium burdens shouldered by Korean workers in Peru.

3. For those not eligible for pension entitlements due to their failure to meet the requirements regarding the period of pension coverage, as long as they have paid pension insurance premiums in the other country, their periods of pension coverage in the ROK and Peru will be totalized.

4. When its social security agreement with Peru is brought into force, the ROK will have such agreements with 33 countries, including Peru, in effect.

° Going forward, the ROK government will actively seek social security agreements with more countries in order to boost people-to-people and material exchanges with them; to lighten insurance premium burdens shouldered by Korean workers dispatched overseas; and to improve their pension entitlements.

5. For more details about the ROK-Peru Agreement on Social Security, including how and where people can apply for certificates of their membership in the national pension scheme that they need to be exempted from paying social insurance premiums to Peru, and for pension payments from Peru, please call the International Cooperation Center at the National Pension Service at 02-2176-8700.
