1. Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Lee Do-hoon, together with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor Morgulov, held a meeting of the Republic of Korea and Russian head delegates to the Six-Party Talks in Seoul on December 18, during which the two sides shared assessments of the current situation on the Korean Peninsula and discussed ways to move forward.

2. Special Representative Lee explained in detail developments on the Korean Peninsula since the ROK-Russia meeting in Moscow on June 5, including the outcome of the summit between the United States and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on June 12 and the 2018 Inter-Korean Summit Pyeongyang in September. The Russian delegation, calling a complete denuclearization and the establishment of peace on the Korean Peninsula a goal shared by the ROK and Russia, reaffirmed strong support for the ROK government’s efforts to that end.

3. The two sides shared results of recent consultations among countries concerned; drew a common understanding that it was important for US-DPRK dialogue to be resumed as soon as possible and produce tangible progress toward a complete denuclearization; and agreed to work closely with countries concerned to that end.

4. The two sides, taking note of close ROK-Russia communication at all levels, including the two bilateral summits in 2018, agreed to maintain close communication at various levels.
