1. Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Argentine Republic Lim Ki-mo and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Argentina Jorge Faurie signed the ROK-Argentina working holiday agreement on November 27.

o Under the agreement, Korean youngsters aged 18-30 (as many as 200 a year) will be able to gain a wide range of experience through sightseeing, foreign language learning, and cultural and local lifestyle experience, and acquire work experience through temporary jobs, while staying in Argentina for up to one year.

Official name of the agreement: Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Government of the Argentine Republic on a Working Holiday Programme

The agreement will enter into force 60 days after the signing of the agreement.

2. In a survey that the Foreign Ministry conducted among the ROK people in August this year, Argentina was selected as one of the countries with which they want the ROK to conclude working holiday agreements. The conclusion of the agreement with Argentina is significant, as it offers Korean youth more opportunities to build presence in Latin America.

3.  The ROK has so far concluded working holiday agreements with a total of 23 countries. In 2017, about 40,000 young Koreans took part in working holiday programs. The Foreign Ministry will seek to give Korean youth more opportunities to build presence overseas by concluding working holiday agreements with other countries with which Korean people want to have working holiday agreements.
