1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host the 3rd MIKTA Young Leaders’ Camp, to be attended by 46 undergraduates and graduates from the member countries of MIKTA, at the Ramada Hotel in Yongin from November 21 till 23.

MIKTA is a consultative mechanism among middle-power countries -- the United Mexican States, the Republic of Indonesia (this year’s chair), the Republic of Korea, the Republic of Turkey, and the Commonwealth of Australia. It was launched at the 68th session of the UN General Assembly in September 2013.

2. The MIKTA Young Leaders’ Camp is an event that has been held every year since 2016 for undergraduates and graduates from the MIKTA member states to raise their awareness of MIKTA, to build networks among undergraduates from the MIKTA members, and to develop future leaders in MIKTA diplomacy.

The 3rd MIKTA Young Leaders’ Camp will bring together 15 Korean undergraduates and graduates, and 31 undergraduates and graduates from Mexico, Indonesia, Turkey and Australia.

3. The participants will attend the launching ceremony at the Foreign Ministry at 10 a.m., November 21, and leave for Yongin, where they will experience MIKTA’s multilateral diplomacy through various activities, including being briefed on the situation on the Korean Peninsula, and listening to lectures by experts in MIKTA; holding a mock MIKTA foreign ministers’ meeting; holding a meeting to develop and review MIKTA projects; writing mock agreed minutes of MIKTA; and adopting the 2018 YLC Declaration, and they will discuss ways to make substantive contributions to MIKTA and to further develop the mechanism.
