1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha will visit a university in the second half of the year 2018 for an open dialogue with college students, as she did in the first half.

° The forthcoming event, the second of its kind after the open dialogue with Ewha Womans University students held in April as part of “diplomacy designed to reach out to people,” will take place at Woosuk University in Jeonju at 11:00 am, September 7, bringing together some 500 people, including Woosuk University students and other citizens.

° In her special lecture, Minister Kang will touch on the current diplomatic tide of the Republic of Korea, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' “diplomacy with the people” policy and the situation on the Korean Peninsula. She will then field questions from the audience.

2. After delivering the special lecture, Minister Kang Kyung-wha, accompanied by members of the Diplomatic Corps in the ROK, will tour the Hanok (traditional Korean house) Village in Jeonju.

° The Minister will introduce to the foreign diplomats to the ROK the outstanding cultural heritage of Jeonju, a “UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.”

3. The event carries significance as one in which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with a provincial government -- the Jeonju government for this particular event -- supports efforts to cultivate talent, and boost tourism and economy in the provincial area. Going forward, the Ministry will contribute to efforts of provinces to build international capacity.
