1. The government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, which unilaterally allowed nationals of the Republic of Korea to stay in the country for up to 15 days without visa, has decided to extend the duration of visa-free stays to up to 30 days, effective from September 1, 2018.

° In a bid to promote convenience of its nationals, the ROK government had its Embassy in Lao PDR continuously consult with the Lao government to seek the extension of the duration of visa-free stays.

2. The Lao measure of good will is expected to allow Koreans to visit Lao PDR more conveniently and to help boost people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
