1. Vice Foreign Minister Cho Hyun will visit Washington DC, the US, from July 24 till 28 for a “Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom,” which will be hosted by the US Department of State on July 25 and 26.

° In the forthcoming meeting, the Vice Minister will take part in the discussion on challenges to religious freedom, such as religious intolerance as well as religion-based discrimination and violence; and ways to respond jointly with the international community to these challenges in a bid to promote religious freedom across the world.

2. During his visit to Washington, Vice Minister Cho will also carry out public diplomacy toward the US, including in meetings with members of the Atlantic Council, academic circles and media outlets, and through his lecture to be delivered on “desirable future for the Republic of Korea-United States alliance” at the George Washington University. In addition, he will visit the US Congress for a meeting on the ROK-US relations with members of the Congressional Study Group on Korea.

3. His schedule during his visit to Washington DC will also include meetings with senior officials of the US administration to discuss matters of mutual concern, such as the situation on the Korean Peninsula, the ROK-US alliance, and economic and trade issues.
