1. On the sidelines of the “Singapore International Water Week (SIWW)” event from July 8 till 12, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Water Forum, will hold the tenth Water Business Forum on July 11.

At the SIWW event, one of the world’s three largest water-related international events along with the World Water Forum and the Stockholm World Water Week, those related to water industry across the world promote their technology and seek out new industries in the field. First held in 2008, the event has taken place on a biennial basis since 2012.

2. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Environment, together with foreign market explorers from Korean startups and small- and medium-sized enterprises with outstanding water-industry technology, will hold export consultations in Singapore.

° The participating companies will hold a “Water Partner Square” event at the SIWW venue from July 9 till 11, during which they will promote themselves and offer technological consultations and demonstrations as well as export consultations to major potential buyers and other participants.

3. At the Water Business Forum themed “integrated SMART management of water for sustainable cities,” the participants will share with one another policies and new technology for responding to future water issues and discuss ways to work together in the field.

° The Forum will bring together some 100 people, including the President of the International Water Association (IWA), a World Bank official handling Southeast Asian affairs, the Director of the Environment and Development Division of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the UNESCO director for Asian and Pacific affairs and other water-related figures from abroad, as well as members of relevant ROK government agencies and companies.

° The Forum will feature congratulatory remarks by such major figures as Minister of Environment Kim Eun-kyung; a keynote speech by IWA President Diane d'Arras; presentations on outstanding technology of water-related Korean companies and relevant cases; and a panel discussion.

4. The Foreign Ministry, in close cooperation with relevant organizations, has organized the Water Business Forum to offer water-related Korean companies a substantive opportunity to build presence overseas, to effectively cultivate water industry and to render support in the field; and expects the event to serve as an opportunity to promote the ROK’s outstanding technology and experiences in water management and to help relevant Korean companies take their global competitiveness a notch higher.
