Foreign Minister Meets with Delegation from US Senate and House Armed Services Committees

1. On February 23, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha met with a delegation from the US Senate and House Armed Services Committees, led by Senator James Inhofe, and exchanged views on the relations between the Republic of Korea and the US, and the security situation on the Korean Peninsula.

 

Members of the delegation: Senator James Inhofe (Republican, Oklahoma / fifth-term), Senator Dan Sullivan (Republican, Alaska / first-term), Joni Ernst (Republican, Iowa / first-term), Trent Kelly (Republican, Mississippi / second-term)

 

2. Minister Kang expressed appreciation to the US Congress for their continued support for efforts to strengthen the ROK-US alliance and resolve the North Korean nuclear issue peacefully, and asked the members of the Congress for continued keen interest and support to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula and establish a lasting peace on the Peninsula.

 

3. The members of the US Congress spoke highly of the ROK government’s active efforts to solve the North Korean nuclear problem peacefully based on strong collaboration between the ROK and the US, and said that the Congress will also continue to provide necessary support to advance the ROK-US alliance.
