1. Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha will meet with Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom of Sweden in Seoul on February 19.

° Minister Wallstrom will visit the Republic of Korea from February 19 till 21 to offer encouragement to athletes competing in the PyeongChang Winter Olympics and to attend an ROK-Sweden foreign ministerial meeting.

※ Sweden, a winter sports powerhouse, has dispatched 119 athletes to the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

- King and Queen Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden will visit the ROK during the PyeongChang sporting event.

2. In their first meeting since Minister Kang’s appointment to the current post, the Foreign Ministers of the ROK and Sweden are expected to exchange a wide range of views on bilateral relations as well as ways to work together on nuclear and other issues of North Korea, as well as UN-related and other global matters.

° In particular, Minister Kang will articulate the ROK government’s position calling for a peaceful resolution of the North Korean nuclear issue and discuss with her Swedish counterpart ways for the ROK and Sweden to pursue policy cooperation on North Korea.
