1. Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam will attend the ministerial session of the “Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq” to take place in the namesake country on February 14.

° The ministerial session of the International Conference on February 14 will be co-hosted by the Kuwaiti and Iraqi governments, the EU, the UN and the World Bank Group, and bring together delegates from governments of some 60 countries and 30-odd international organizations for discussions on ways to reconstruct Iraq.

※ The forthcoming Conference, set to take place from February 12 till 14, will consist of an expert group session on February 12, a meeting to be joined by enterprises on February 13 and one among minister-level officials on February 14.

- Some 30 Korean entrepreneurs have registered for participation in the February 13 session to be hosted by the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

2. In the keynote speech that he will deliver in his capacity as the Republic of Korea’s head delegate to the Conference, Vice Minister Lim will share with the other participants the ROK government’s humanitarian assistance to Iraq and its development cooperation with the Middle Eastern country, as well as Korean companies’ work toward the reconstruction of Iraq; and will express the ROK government’s support for the reconstruction efforts made by the Iraqi government.

° In addition, the Vice Minister will stress that as the reconstruction of Iraq, when successful, is expected to contribute to peace and stability in not only the Middle East but the entire international community, the international community needs to render cooperation and assistance in that regard.
