ROK Head Delegate to Six-Party Talks to Meet with his Japanese Counterpart

1. Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Lee Do-hoon will visit Japan on December 21 and 22 for a meeting with Director-General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau Kenji Kanasugi of the Japanese Foreign Ministry in their capacity as the Republic of Korea and Japanese head delegates to the Six-Party Talks.

※ Special Representative Lee’s visit to Japan will mark his first since his inauguration.

2. In the meeting to follow up on the recent bilateral foreign ministerial meeting, the two sides will share with each other assessments of the situation regarding the North Korean nuclear issue in the wake of the North’s launch of a long-range ballistic missile on November 29, and discuss in depth ways to respond down the road, including managing the situation on the Korean Peninsula in a stable manner and inducing the North to resume meaningful dialogue.
