1. "The committee for private-public cooperation on the rectification of errors on and increase references to the Republic of Korea abroad," which had been launched on March 30, 2016, held its sixth meeting at the Northeast Asian History Foundation on November 28.

° The meeting was chaired by Ambassador for Public Diplomacy Park Enna of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and brought together 14 members of the committee, including the Deputy Director-General for Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant officials of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, other related government agencies and organizations.

※ The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education presides over the meeting on a rotational basis, with the former chairing the 2017 round.

※ The committee is composed of three Ministries and their seven affiliates as well as five private organizations.

2. In the meeting, the participants shared with one another major achievements made in 2017 in rectifying errors found abroad with regard to the ROK and increasing references to the ROK abroad, as well as ways to work together in 2018.

° Ambassador for Public Diplomacy Park Enna stressed that amid the growing significance of rectifying errors found overseas with regard to the ROK and increasing references to the ROK abroad, it is very important that the committee members share their vivid experiences on the ground and build frameworks for cooperation among government agencies and other organizations.

° The Ambassador went on to ask relevant government agencies and organizations to work closely together for the suggestions raised at the meeting to bear tangible fruit.

3. In 2018, the committee will hold further discussions chaired by the Ministry of Education to seek ways to rectify errors found in foreign countries with regard to the ROK and increase references to the country abroad in efforts to widely spread correct information on the ROK and enhance its international standing.
