Foreign Ministry-Incheon International Organizations-MICE Career Fair to Take Place

1. In a bid to provide realistic and substantive information to Koreans interested in working at international organizations, the Foreign Ministry and the Incheon Metropolitan City will co-host a “Foreign Ministry-Incheon international organizations-MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and events) career fair” in Songdo, Incheon, on November 17. Representatives of major international organizations in the Republic of Korea have been invited to take part in the event.

° The event will take place at Songdo Convensia in Incheon at 10:00-18:00, November 17.

※ Ten-odd international organizations and international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) will offer consultations to those seeking presence at international organizations, and will run promotional booths.

2. At the event, representatives and other working-level officials of ten international organizations and their cooperative agencies in the ROK will provide job seekers with information on their organizations’ work, recruitment and personnel management systems, and recruitment knowhows, as well as ways to develop career. A question-and-answer session will ensue.

※ The international organizations to be represented at the event will include the Global Climate Fund (GCF); the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI); the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Seoul Office; the Seoul offices of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the UN Migration Agency; the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Subregional Office for East and North-East Asia (ESCAP-ENEA); the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (UNESCO APCEIU); the UNICEF Seoul Office; the UN Project Office on Governance (UNPOG); the World Bank Seoul Office; and the World Food Programme Seoul Office.

3. At the event, INGOs and the Incheon International Development Cooperation Center will offer consultations and information regarding recruitment systems of international organizations to young Koreans interested in developing international careers.

4. Going forward, the Foreign Ministry will continue to support in various ways bids of Korean nationals to build presence at international organizations. Among those ways will be holding briefings on job opportunities at international organizations and relevant career fairs; dispatching young Koreans overseas to work as junior professional officers (JPOs) and UN volunteers (UNVs); and running its International Organizations Recruitment Center.
