1. The Foreign Ministry will hold a briefing session at the Ministry at 15:00-17:30 on October 17 for young Koreans seeking job opportunities at international organizations as KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) multilateral cooperation officers (KMCOs), junior professional officers (JPOs) and UN Volunteers (UNVs).

KOICA dispatches KMCOs to international organizations it works with to offer young Koreans opportunities to gain work experiences at such bodies and thereby become talent in the field of multilateral cooperation.

JPOs are offered the same level of work opportunities as those given to interns at international organizations so that they can become experts with international capability and experiences.

UNVs are given opportunities to carry out volunteer work at field offices of international organizations related to international development, education, human rights and various other areas, and thereby to build global competitiveness.

2. At the event that will kick off with welcoming remarks by Vice Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, the overseers of the Foreign Ministry’s major projects designed to support such job seekers will offer detailed explanations on when the project participants will be recruited, the eligibility for each project and the financial support to be provided by the Foreign Ministry, such as air fares and living expenses. Former participants in those projects will also attend the session and share with prospective participants their experiences in those projects.

3. At the session, head of the UNICEF Seoul office Kim Soo-hyun will inform the young Koreans of the kind of talent international organizations are looking for and give relevant advice to those seeking to build presence on the global stage.

4. Amid the growing interest in offering the young more good-quality jobs and in opportunities to build presence overseas, the forthcoming briefing session is expected to serve as an opportunity to provide useful information to those interested in working at international organizations and other agencies overseas related to development cooperation, education, human rights and various other areas, thereby helping them become global talent and land good-quality jobs.
