1. The Foreign Ministry held a briefing session on its “global youth” campaign at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies on September 26, during which it provided some 500 young Koreans with information regarding the projects the Ministry is conducting in support of Korean youth seeking job opportunities overseas.

※ “Global youth” refers to “the young seeking to build presence beyond the Republic of Korea and in the global community.”

2. At the briefing session, relevant project overseers of the Foreign Ministry and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) offered explanations on their major projects, including those designed to help seek out opportunities to work at international organizations and as interns at regional organizations in Latin America and at the Republic of Korea’s overseas diplomatic missions, as well as working holiday and overseas volunteer programs.

° The officials mentioned that language requirements and areas of recruitment vary with different projects. In particular, saying that air fares and living expenses are provided to participants in most of the projects, they encouraged the young Koreans to find a project right for them and to positively consider joining it.

※ Further details on the projects are available on the “global youth” website at www.mofa.go.kr/youth.

° The briefing session was followed by one-on-one consultations, during which five project overseers answered questions from students and gave information on the projects presumably suitable to them.

° The briefing session drew keen interest and response, as can be seen from the fact that with some 500 people having applied to attend the session, its venue had to be changed to a large auditorium from the initially arranged 200-seat venue.

3. Since May 2017, the Foreign Ministry has held such briefing sessions in Shinchon, Chungnam National University and Chonbuk National University to offer information on ten-odd projects that have been individually conducted by the Ministry and its affiliates with the aim to help young Koreans build presence overseas. It will hold such sessions at Pusan National University on October 26 and Kyonggi University on November 17.
