Delegation from Mongolia to Take Look at Preparations for PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games

1. Fifteen parliamentary aides from Mongolia will visit Seoul and Gangwon Province (Pyeongchang and Gangneung) from September 11 to 15 as part of the “ROK-Mongolia future-oriented program.”

2. The ROK-Mongolia future-oriented program has been carried out since 2013 to get more people in Mongolia to have a favorable view of the ROK. Mongolia’s young government officials and people from the media have been invited to the ROK under the program.

o This year, fifteen congressional aides from Mongolia will visit Gangwon Province, and take a look at the final stages of preparations underway for the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games, to be held in February 2018.

o Before visiting the province, the Mongolian delegation will pay a courtesy call on lawmaker Kim Tae-nyun, head of the ROK-Mongolia economic cooperation forum, and discuss ways for the parliaments of the two countries to work together to advance the ROK-Mongolia relations. The delegation will also visit the Foreign Ministry and hold a meeting.

3. The delegation’s visit, arranged as part of the ROK-Mongolia future-oriented program, is expected to lay the foundation for enhancing the relations between the two countries in a future-oriented manner by getting those from the Mongolian parliament who haven’t been to the ROK to have a favorable view of the ROK.
