Foreign Ministry’s Task Force on PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Holds 4th Meeting

1. The Foreign Ministry’s task force, the replacement for the consultative group formed by the Ministry to support the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, held its fourth meeting at the Ministry on September 8. Vice Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, who presided over the task force meeting, will lead it until the end of the sporting event.

2. At the meeting, the participants -- officials of all the relevant divisions of the Foreign Ministry as well as those from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the PyeongChang Organizing Committee and other related government agencies -- reviewed the progress in the preparations for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics; and discussed in depth ways to help make a success of the event, including increasing promotional activities and cooperation between the Foreign Ministry and the PyeongChang Organizing Committee.

※ The Foreign Ministry officials at the meeting were from the Office of the Spokesperson, the Office of the Deputy Minister for Protocol Affairs, the Office of Planning and Coordination, the Northeast Asian Affairs Bureau, the North American Affairs Bureau, the European Affairs Bureau, the International Organizations Bureau, the Cultural Affairs Bureau, and the Overseas Koreans and Consular Affairs Bureau.

3. Going forward, the Foreign Ministry will actively support the efforts to make a success of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Furthermore, it will continue working closely with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the PyeongChang Organizing Committee and other relevant government agencies to that end.
