Foreign Ministry to Issue CoSs to YMS Participants-to-be

1. The Foreign Ministry, in an effort to support bids of young Koreans to build presence in the UK, will issue Certificates of Sponsorship (CoSs) to those wishing to join the Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS) in the country in 2017 and having yet to apply for visas.

※ The YMS is a program during which Koreans aged 18 to 30 stay in the UK for up to two years, working, studying language and traveling and thereby experiencing the language and culture of the country.

- Compared to the working holiday program, the YMS allows the participants to stay longer and take language classes for an unlimited period of time during their stay.

※ CoSs
- The Foreign Ministry, having already issued CoSs to the 1,000 participants in the YMS 2017, will issue them to those who have yet to apply for visas.

- The Foreign Ministry will issue CoSs after checking who among the YMS participants have and have not applied for visas.

2. Koreans wishing to join the YMS in the UK should send the required documents to the MOFA Working Holiday Info Center by mail between August 14 and 18. For further information, please visit the MOFA Working Holiday Info Center website at whic.mofa.go.kr.

※ Required documents
- A letter of self-introduction, a pledge statement, a signed agreement on the collection and usage of personal information, a copy of the first page of the passport, a criminal record certificate and an official transcript of an English language competence test
