1. In a bid to seek a closer environmental cooperation with the Middle Eastern and African countries and support bids of relevant Korean companies to build presence in the regional market, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute (KEITI), will host the “2017 forum on environment in the Middle East and Africa” in Seoul on June 8.

2. The event will bring together some 100 people, including such high-level environment-related officials of Middle Eastern and African countries as the Minister of Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection of Zambia, the deputy minister of Water and Irrigation of Tanzania, and a delegate from Iran’s Air Quality Control Company, as well as those from relevant organizations and companies at home.

° At the forum, the participants will share with one another cases of environmental cooperation in the Middle East and Africa as well as progress in relevant projects; hold bilateral meetings on environmental cooperation; and attend one-on-one business consultations.

3. The forum is expected to help environment-related Korean companies bolster their human networks in the Middle East and Africa and thereby win projects from the region.

° The event will come in conjunction with an international Environmental Technology & Green Energy Exhibition (ENVEX), which will take place from June 7 till 9, serving as an opportunity for the Republic of Korea country to promote to the forum participants its environmental and energy technologies.

※ ENVEX is the largest environmental fair held in the Republic of Korea on an annual basis, hosted by the Korea Environmental Preservation Association. This year’s round is expected to bring together 260 enterprises from 20 countries in the fields of environmental industry and technology as well as new and renewable energy, and some 1,400 foreign purchasers.
