1. The Foreign Ministry will hold the “2016 invitation program for overseas honorary consuls of the Republic of Korea” from October 17 to 22. The program, which marks the seventh in 2016, is held to help overseas honorary consuls, who are working to protect overseas Koreans and contributing to efforts to increase cooperation between the ROK and their home countries in economy, culture and education, better understand the ROK and promote their sense of belonging.

2. Sixteen honorary consuls invited to this year’s program from 16 countries will take part in various programs designed to help them learn more about the ROK: They will visit the National Assembly building, the inter-Korean demilitarized zone (DMZ) and industrial facilities; experience Hallyu and other aspects of Korean culture; and be briefed on the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

3. The “invitation program for overseas honorary consuls,” which marks the seventh of its kind this year since the first held in 2010, is expected to help broaden the global pro-ROK network and better protect the overseas Koreans.
