1. The Republic of Korea, in its capacity as the chair country of the Multilateral Organisation Performance Assessment Network (MOPAN), will host a meeting of the MOPAN Steering Committee in Seoul on May 10 and 11.

2. MOPAN is a network of 17 advanced donor countries whose contributions account for 95% of the total multilateral assistance. The upcoming meeting of the Steering Committee, MOPAN’s premier decision-making organ, will bring together delegates from the 17 MOPAN member states, including the ROK, and the MOPAN Secretariat.

3. The forthcoming meeting will cover the progress in the evaluation of the twelve international organizations under evaluation, including the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the World Bank and the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI); ways for MOPAN to play a role in the implementation of the recently launched 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development; and ways to improve MOPAN’s governance.

4. The ROK is actively implementing multilateral diplomacy in 2016, as demonstrated by its chairmanship of a combined ten international organizations and consultative mechanisms, including MOPAN. The forthcoming MOPAN meeting will mark the first that the ROK will host in Seoul as the chair of those bodies.
