1. The first-ever Republic of Korea-Rwanda policy consultation will take place at the ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 26, with Director-General for African and Middle Eastern Affairs Kwon Hee-seog of the ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Director-General in charge of Multilateral Affairs Olivier Nduhungirehe of Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation leading their respective delegations.

2. In the forthcoming policy consultation, the two sides will discuss ways to promote substantive cooperation between their two countries in various fields, including political affairs, economy, trade, development, culture and foreign affairs, as well as on the international stage. They will also exchange views on situations in diverse regions of the world.

◦ The ROK delegation, in order to reinforce the institutional foundation for promoting cooperation with Rwanda, will call for the Rwandan government’s cooperation for an early conclusion of an agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and a memorandum of understanding on sports and culture.

3. The policy consultation, which will come as part of the ROK government’s policy efforts to strengthen its diplomacy toward Africa, will mark the first-ever policy dialogue between the ROK and Rwanda since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1963. The ROK government, by establishing and activating the dialogue channel with Rwanda, will seek to deepen and expand mutually-beneficial cooperative ties with Rwanda.
