1. The first-ever 1.5-track dialogue between the Republic of Korea and China will take place in Zhuhai, Guangdong, China, on July 7, co-hosted by the Foreign Ministries of the two countries.

2. The ROK and Chinese delegations to the meeting themed “ways to advance the ROK-China relations” will be led by Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Kim Hong-kyun and Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jianchao, respectively, and comprised of former senior government officials and civilian experts of the two countries. Among the participants will be former Vice Foreign Minister Lee Kyu-hyung of the ROK; former Vice Foreign Minister Wang Yingfan and former Assistant Foreign Minister Hu Zhengyue of China; and ten civilian experts in various fields, including foreign affairs, security, economy, media, culture and academia, of the two countries. In the meeting, the two sides will discuss in depth ways to advance their ties.

3. “The ROK-China 1.5-track dialogue” mechanism is the first-ever private-public consultative mechanism between the two countries, which the leaders of the two agreed to establish during President Xi Jinping’s visit to the ROK in July 2014. The mechanism is expected to help broaden the base of cooperation and step up communication between the private and public sectors of the two countries, thereby playing a role in moving their strategic cooperative partnership substantially forward.
