1. The 2015 MIKTA Young Professional Camp will take place in Seoul and Jeonju from July 6 through 11, hosted by the Foreign Ministry with the support of the Korea Foundation.

2. The camp to come as part of the follow-up measures to the fifth MIKTA foreign ministerial meeting held in May 2015 will serve as an arena for younger generations of the MIKTA member states to share their knowledge and have dialogue with one another. As such, it is expected to be an opportunity for the participants to present creative ideas in terms of the potential constructive role MIKTA can play to contribute to the international community; to discuss ways for the MIKTA countries to work with one another to that end; and to build friendship among the young participants.

* The event will bring together one foreign affairs expert and ten graduate students majoring in political science, international relations, and other social science areas, 55 in total, from each of the five MIKTA countries -- Mexico, Indonesia, (the Republic of) Korea, Turkey and Australia.

3. The camp will consist of MIKTA Dialogue Session I where the experts from the five countries will deliver presentations on “the direction of middle power diplomacy of each MIKTA country and international cooperation” and “the significance and challenges of MIKTA from the viewpoint of each MIKTA country”; and MIKTA Dialogue Session II, during which the participants will discuss “the potential area for cooperation among the MIKTA countries and ways for the younger generations of those countries to contribute in that regard.”

4. In addition, the participants will be briefed on the “Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP)” conducted by the Korea Development Institute (KDI); and visit sites drawing attention in terms of environment, an area of common interest among the MIKTA member states. By doing so, they are expected to understand the importance of trans-national cooperation in resolving global issues and learn about the ROK’s contributions to the international community.

5. The participants will also visit cultural sites and attend cultural performances to learn about the traditional and modern societies of Korea and have first-hand experience of Korean culture.

6. The first-ever MIKTA Young Professional Camp to be hosted by the ROK is expected to serve as an opportunity for the younger generations of the MIKTA member states to engage in intellectual networking and candidly discuss MIKTA’s vision and way forward adopted at the fifth MIKTA foreign ministerial meeting; to promote MIKTA’s activities at home and abroad; and to build bond and step up cooperation among the young participants.
